Rare Poster for “Daddy Was a Lady”

In a previous post, I outlined the strange story behind Ray Bourbon’s aborted Broadway comeback, “Daddy Was a Lady”.

Recently, I got an email contact from the website letting me know they had spotted a poster from the show at an antique mall in Texas. I talked with the shop owner and she graciously agreed to let me buy it remotely and ship it to me here in North Carolina.

This is the only tangible piece of memorabilia to turn up from the show. I talked with the store owner, who relayed my interest in finding the script to the booth owner, but the script didn’t turn up in the estate sale this poster came from. No one’s quite sure how the poster wound up in Texas. Maybe in came from someone in or associated with the show or a person affiliated with the Grubstake.

If you run into the original script for the show or photos or other memorabilia connected with it, please let me know.

Yellow poster with red text that reads "Elsenpeter Productions Presents - RAE BOURBON - in the Pre-Broadway Production - "Daddy Was a Lady" - Now Showing Nightly - Grubstake Theatre - Cafe and Bar - Cripple Creek, Colorado - June 27 - Through Sept 12" with small text for ticket prices and address and phone number for reservations
